Once upon a time 3-4 years ago we decided we wanted a different life, and a new challenge, we always had a soft spot for France when going on holiday's and of course it is not at the end of the world it is very easy to come back to England to visit Mums, Dads and relatives and friends. So we started to look around some of the area's of the country we liked. It became obvious that already there were a lot of brits and many other nationalities spread out around the country and with the tiny budget we had some of the area's were well out of the question, we left the idea alone for a while and like most of us it was put on the back burner whilst we buried our heads in the sand and carried on working . This year 2008 at xmas the idea raised it's head again so in March after trawling the internet for weeks well into the small hours we went over looking seriously for a house or barn, we were not fussy about location really just a good sized renovation project near a small town or commune anywhere in France. Being the impatient type's we didn't want to spend months searching and then forgetting the idea again so we went for it before we spent the budget on something else, we did 2 visits in April and we were so lucky to find the house we really wanted straight away on the first visit, we put in an offer and it was accepted, the completion was planned for 31st July but everything went so smoothly that in May we find ourselves the proud owners of an old stone cottage with a garden, in a beautiful village in dept 36. This site follows the story of our project and what we have learnt and what we have cocked up on and believe me we will be doing plenty of that, so we hope you enjoy it and please feel free to sign our guestbook .
